The 29th Annual Chicago Blues Festival is now over. It was a wonderful weekend of music by artists we know well and some we don’t have a chance to see often. Our Blues Breakers Blues Fest Broadcast was one of the best ever. Now it’s time to move on and we’ll be looking forward to another big weekend of blues in Chicagoland this coming weekend tonight on Blues Breakers. Our Artist of the Week will be Howlin’ Wolf.

This coming Saturday there will be another blues festival. Blues on the Fox takes place Friday evening but mostly Saturday in downtown Aurora along the banks of the Fox River. We’ll play a couple of songs from artists who were part of our Blues Breakers Blues Fest Broadcast this past Thursday who will be playing this Saturday at Blues on the Fox. We’ve also got some new releases to try to fit in tonight from Joe Louis Walker and Lil’ Ed and others. Join us at nine (central) tonight.

    Tom – first of all..I love XRT and what it’s done for the Chicago music scene for decades. I’ve been listening since the 70′s. But I have to bring up this point… We are hearing about a general decline in the blues audiences, we are hoping Chicago will honor and recognize the blues with a special zone downtown, and we lament the loss of the late greats. Well – we just concluded a wonderful weekend of blues in Grant Park yet all I heard on XRT was live broadcasts from Bonnaroo. A cool fest I’m sure but why do we ignore our own back yard and why not throw a little more support behind the blues in Chicago? It really could have been amped up. I’m just askin’.

      Commenting on my own comment… I may have come across a bit harsh. XRT is a great supporter of the blues in this city. I really just would like to see more airtime during the fest with artist interviews and background info like we heard from Tennessee – but about our city and the blues music emanating from Grant Park.

    and all I want is the playlist for Blues Breaker’s June 4th broadcast. I can’t find it anywhere on the site. There’s a few discs I want to pickup from that night’s show, one for sure.
