Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials at the fest on Sunday at 4:15
Tonight on Blues Breakers it will be our annual Blues Fest Preview Show. We’ll spend the hour playing blues by artists that will be performing at the Chicago Blues Festival in Grant Park this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Plus, don’t forget our 15th Annual Blues Breakers Blues Fest Broadcast takes place the day before the fest, this Thursday the 7th. Beginning at 6PM we’ll be broadcasting live from the new Buddy Guy’s Legends at 700 S. Wabash. Our co-host will be Shemekia Copeland and we’ll have performances by Alligator Records artist Joe Louis Walker and his band, Ronnie Baker Brooks and his band, and special guest Billy Branch. There’s no cover, and everyone 21 or older is welcome. If you can’t make it there in person, check it out on 93XRT from 6:00PM to 7:30PM.

The last time Mavis Staples was at Grant Park. I can only hope for Sunday!
Some of the artists appearing at the fest this weekend that you’re likely to hear tonight are Mavis Staples,Joe Louis Walker from his new record, Li’ Ed and the Blues Imperials from a brand new album, Lurrie Bell off his latest, Bob Margolin and as many more as time will allow. As you know, city budgets are tight, but once again the Mayor’s Office of Special Events has put together three days of blues on 5 stages running from around 11 in the morning till about 9 at night and kept it FREE!
