Billy Branch
For the first time ever we’re picking a blues show that is taking place at a venue we’ve never visited. But we know the veteran act always delivers, and we don’t think the place has ever booked live blues before and we’d like to offer encouragement for them to do so again. Plus, they’ve got a good looking menu.
Three time Grammy nominee Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues is one of the best blues bands in town, with Billy being an internationally famous and highly regarded harmonica player. They play at the best blues clubs in town, but tomorrow night (Saturday) we’ll have a chance to see the same face in a different place. As far as we can tell, this venue has not booked live blues acts before, or at least not bands of this caliber. The place is called Dixie Star. It’s located at 13100 S. Halsted in Riverdale where Halsted crosses the river. It looks to be part of a marina and right along the water. If you like Southern and New Orleans cooking, the menu will look very good to you. I say the place deserves a try, and what better time to go there than this Saturday when Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues will be playing.
See the line up for next weekend’s Chicago Blues Festival.
