Now that summer has somewhat officially begun here in Chicago, we need some tunes. Start with these:
- “A Summer Song” by Chad and Jeremy. A gentle zephyr of a Merseybeat/folk classic.
- “Rhyme for the Summertime” by G. Love and Special Sauce. ”I can’t rest till I find satisfaction!”
- “Rain on the Roof” by the Loving Spoonful. A summer shower spawns a long make out session.
- “Summertime” by Janis Joplin. Lots of versions of this Gershwin classic, but it’s Janis!
- “Summertime, Summertime” by the Jamies. A doo wop, sacred harp hymn to the season so nice they had to name it twice.
- “School’s Out” by Alice Cooper. The flip side of a good education begins with summer vacation.
- “Rain in the Summertime” by the Alarm. Not always a bad thing.
- “See You in September” by the Happenings. A summer love is a possible roadblock.
- “Summertime” by the Sundays. Harriet Wheelers’ tribute to the hot times.
- “Summer Romance” by the Rolling Stones. One of many for the Glimmer Twins.
