The smartass singer/songwriter from North Carolina is best known for his sharp wit and piano skills, releasing ballads in the 90s as an alternative to the Alternative explosion.

Ben Folds Five first got back together in ’08 to perform a one-off of their third and final album, The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner. Since then, Folds continued his solo work releasing albums, Way to Normal and Lonely Avenue, a collaboration with Nick Hornby, author of High Fidelity.

The trio (Ben Folds, Darren Jessee, and Robert Sledge) reunited last summer to record three new songs for a career retrospective and decided to schedule time at Ben’s Nashville studio to begin laying down the start of a full new album for 2012.

Next month, BFF will be a part of XRT’s 93 Days of Summer with a show June 29th at The World’s Largest Block Party at Old St. Pat’s Church.
