The Long And Winding Abbey Road

There was a blog on our website last week about the auction of a photo of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road. Not the shot that made the cover, but one of the outtakes, where the Beatles are crossing from the other side and Paul is still wearing his sandals. The story was right that it is an “iconic image in popular culture.” But for nerds like myself, we can amuse ourselves for hours by finding parodies of this photo of the fab four. So let me offer some links to take you down cause I’m going to Abbey Road. One tip. If you go to London and want to be photographed crossing the road, make it quick. It’s a busy roadway, and you can only imagine how irritating it is for the locals. It’s been over 40 years now that they’ve been dodging tourists.

The Simpsons, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kanye West, and Ren & Stimpy. They’ve all crossed the road. [VIEW]

Check out the end of this blog for 4 legos crossing the road. [VIEW]

Here are 4 other Beetles crossing the road. [VIEW]

A few for the kids…Snoopy, Baby Road, Sesame Street… [VIEW]

About half the way down this fab fan site is a great bird’s eye view of the crossing. [VIEW]

The Beatles on Segways is one of my faves. [VIEW]

If Walt Disney was a Beatle fan….this wonderful person has Pooh and others crossing the road to never never land. [VIEW]

There are some tshirts worth tracking down. I saw a gentleman wearing this one on Record Store Day. The ultimate geek shirt. Beatles…legos…star wars. Who could ask for more? Why don’t they make grown up sizes for this. I WANT ONE! [VIEW]

And here’s a shirt for Pac Man fans! [VIEW]

So many people have parodied the cover for their own albums…Even Paul McCartney…even the Rutles. [VIEW]

And again, look both ways before you cross. And don’t forget, they drive on the other side of the road over there. Mind the cars…and busses. [VIEW]
