In his new heartwarming acoustic song for the Every Mother Counts benefit album, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder channels his parental affection in a Neil Young-style with a sweet acoustic serenade. Vedder’s daughter Olivia makes an appearance, chirping out a little “check, check” and “Daddy” at the beginning of the song.

“Skipping” is one of many songs on the Every Mother Counts 2012 compilation album put together by founder, supermodel, and mother Christy Turlington. The compilation will be released exclusively in Starbucks throughout the months of May–in perfect timing for Mother’s Day, May 13th.

Every Mother Counts includes unreleased material from other artists like Beck, Coldplay, and U2′s Bono and the Edge.

Supermodel and Every Mother Counts founder Christy Turlington tells Rolling Stone:

“Eddie was amazing to accept this project while in the midst of so much. I spoke to him and exchanged several emails about his contribution. ‘Skipping’ is such a sweet song and I just love that his daughter Olivia has a little cameo at the start. He once wrote me saying that his girls would be proud one day that their dad contributed to such a meaningful project.”

The precious song really highlights Vedder’s love for his children with lyrics like, “All of my life from beginning from end/what I remember is holding your hand/all that I cherish is the time that we spend/Me and you skipping throughout the land.”

Some proceeds from the Every Mother Counts 2012 album will go to Every Mother Counts which strives to educate on global maternal mortality.
