The Hives continue their top hat-wearing-world-dominating scream-a-thon.

With Hollywood temperatures in the mid 70s, Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist and the band must have felt a lot more comfortable in their finely tailored tuxedos then the previous two weeks spent in the searing triple digit Coachella heat.

The Swedish garage rock band was diverted from their world tour to play Coachella and Kimmel. Having conquered both, they’ll now hop on a plane to Coimbra, Portugal to excite worldwide audiences for their upcoming fifth studio album. Titled Lex Hives, their newest album is scheduled to hit stores this June.

In an interview at Coachella, Almqvist was asked why it took so long to produce the latest album. “It’s pretty fast considering it takes millions of years to make a diamond,” says Almqvist. “For gold, maybe you won’t find as much. You have to gather your gold to put on an album.”

The quirky band is also really picky when it comes to the way their music sounds, which is reflected in their new music like single, “Go Right Ahead!”

“It’s the five of us,” said the Hives when asked who’s the pickiest. “It’s horrible. It’s everybody. I guess we got better at it in the latter years, but it’s not really a forgiving environment to be in: making music with the Hives. Everything sucks basically. You basically record four hundred demos and you like two.”
