First off, gotta go with Maps and Atlases and the new set Beware and Be Grateful. This is a big league effort for the Chicago quartet, full of ideas and hooks and sharply executed music. The kind of music that makes me wonder how anybody can pull off something so cool. Yes, I’m already formulating many questions for when they’ll be a guest on Local Anesthetic in May.
Also digging the new disc from Archie Powell and The Exports, Sidewalk Chalk and Old Fashioned War. Working on figuring out the rest. Having more music than I can actually fit on the show is a problem I wish I had more often. Tune in for some fine new Chicago music on this week’s Local Anesthetic, Sunday night at 7:30 here on XRT.
