[photogallerylink id=32226 align=left]Soundgarden‘s fans waited patiently for fifteen years to hear new music from the Seattle-based grunge metal band. This patience was recently rewarded with their first all-new song , “Live to Rise,” which appears on the Avengers soundtrack.
Starting today, Soundgarden is offering “Live to Rise” as a free download on iTunes. The promotion of the song coincides with an exclusive clip from the Avengers movie and the song is downloadable from April 17 through April 24.
The Avengers Assemble soundtrack can also be now be pre-ordered. The album features thirteen high-energy tracks from artists like Rise Against, Shinedown, Scott Weiland and Papa Roach.
In a recent interview with KROQ/Los Angeles, Cornell said that when it came to writing “Live To Rise,” he “barely remembers, it happened so fast.”
“We’ve been working on a new album for a while and it’s taken a while because we’ve ended up touring a few times in the middle of writing it and recording it…We’re pretty much done with that,” continued the Soundgarden frontman. “We’re at the mixing stage of it and then this idea came up that we’d contribute a song for the Avengers film and so it’s actually the newest song that we have.”
