Every June on the day before the Chicago Blues Festival begins ‘XRT does a free show/live broadcast from Buddy Guy’s Legends in Downtown Chicago. Our announcement of the annual Blues Breakers Blues Fest Broadcast from Buddy Guy’s Legends is just one reason to be sure to be listening to Blues Breakers tonight.

Otis Rush

Tonight on Blues Breakers our Artist of the Week is a true Chicago Blues legend. Otis Rush was one of the most prominent, most popular, most covered, most influential and most awesome blues artists of the Chicago Blues scene of the fifties and right on into this century. Otis is still with us and maybe even listening tonight, but his career effectively ended when he suffered a serious stroke in 2004. We’ll play a sample of his music tonight on Blues Breakers.

Lurrie Bell

We’re also very excited about a new release by Chicago Bluesman Lurrie Bell. We’ll play the title track of “The Devil Ain’t Got No Music” tonight.
