Another Wednesday, another Route to Rock post. Get used to it, man! They’ll be coming at you for a while and hopefully you’ll be able to make use of them. I’ll be in a Toyota Prius of my own very soon, and before I know it, my phone’s gonna be blowing up with designated driver requests because my friends are not only responsible drinkers, they’d also prefer to be chauffeured around in the most fuel-efficient way possible. Environmentally-conscious party people, right? I’ll also be using the Prius to get me to many events posted here on the Route to Rock page…
Ceremony @ Subterranean, Friday, 4/13
No, I’m not just posting this show because my buddy’s brother is in the band. To be honest, I had no idea he was until after I’d tweeted about how much I liked their newest record, Zoo. If you like your punk rock, you’ll like these guys from my neck of the woods, beautiful Northern CA. Tix here.
Matthew Dear DJ set @ Spy Bar, Friday, 4/13
I’ve loved Matthew’s work for years now. Matthew helped to start Ghostly International in Ann Arbor, MI, and his DJ skills will be on display this Friday night. More info on the gig here, and a free download from Matthew can be found here.
White Sox v. Tigers @ U.S. Cellular Field, April 13, 14, 15
Hey, it shouldn’t be too cold this weekend! I love to tell people that as someone that rides a bike year-round, someone that’s stayed on the bike in -30 wind chill (into the wind, thank you), the coldest I’ve ever been in Chicago was when attending April baseball games at both Wrigley and the Cell. At least when you’re on a bike in January you’re moving. Sitting motionless in the shade when it’s 39 degrees with a nice biting wind to go along with it can be pretty brutal, but thankfully the forecast for this weekend isn’t looking too bad. Rain, maybe, but at least you shouldn’t freeze. Tix here.
