Prius Route To Rock: Vol. 1
Every Wednesday for the foreseeable future I’ll be posting stuff about weekend happenings here on the Prius Route to Rock page. The idea is to give you the heads up on shows and events, and if I’m suddenly feeling a roadie to, say, Indiana Dunes State Park or St. Joseph, Michigan for some good ol’ lake surfing, I’ll throw that in there too. I’ve been without a car for 5 years now, and I really do like the car-less lifestyle, but I’ve always said if I did get a car, it would be one that got amazing gas mileage. Enter the Prius. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still biking every day and rocking the CTA, it’s just that I now have a very fuel efficient way to load up on groceries and get out of town if I feel that I need a bit of a break from the city. The Prius will get me to many of the events and happenings posted and I’ll definitely be including photos and videos of the, uh, adventures.
So, to start things off, here are a few things you might be into this coming weekend…
-Neon Indian @ Metro, Friday, 4/6
Yay, chillwave! I fell in love with the first N.I. album a few years back, and we have Alan Palomo and the band appearing at my favorite Chicago venue this Friday evening. Tix are still available last I checked and you can get ’em here. Drinks pre-and/or-post-show at the Gingerman Tavern is always recommended.
–Cubs v. Nationals @ Wrigley Field, April 5, 7, 8
Oh, yeah! Baseball starts this weekend. Normally, we’re all freezing our asses off at Wrigley and Sox Park in April, but 2012 hasn’t brought any cold at all and seems like it’s the warmest year ever. So far, anyway. The Cubs open at home and the Sox are on the road. If you wanna look for tix to the Cubs and Natinals games, go here.
–Surfing Lake Michigan
Uh, probably not this weekend according to the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Damn. Maybe next week?
