Even though the outside temperature makes it feel more like the First Day of Summer, early today we celebrated the Vernal Equinox (exact time was 12:14am CDT). To learn more about what this all means read this. Spring and Autumn are my favorite time of the year; the temps are just perfect and it gives us the feeling of what it might be like to be living in a place like San Diego year round. Music always plays such an important part of any season in my head, so here is a list of 5 Essential Songs on my Spring Playlist. Of course these are in no particular order , I’m sure you have suggestions as well. I hope you share with us your picks.
1) Tom Waits – You Can Never Hold Back Spring
No matter what’s going on with your life, spring always means re-birth and awakening.
2) Simon and Garfunkel – The 59th Street Bridge Song
Kicking down the cobblestones, looking for Fun and Feeling Groovy
3) XTC – Grass
As spring progresses, the grass gets fuller and more comfortable. Who doesn’t love a good lie-down on grass.
4) Fats Waller – Spring Cleaning ( Getting Ready for Love)
I always tend to go back to the old classics from songs I heard as a child.
5) Camera Obscura – Honey In The Sun
Wonderful song from the Glasgow band, especially the line
“I wish my heart was as cold as the morning dew
But it’s as warm as saxophones and honey in the sun for you
There are so many songs to choose from but I hope I got you thinking of a good spring playlist with these essentials on mine.
