Posting this early because I’ll be attending the 48-hour battle royale known as the IHSA Individual State Wrestling Tournament at U of I the next few days. (A friend told me it’s like my own wrestling Bonaroo, which isn’t far off.) So, I’m assembling Anesthetic early and can give you a heads up on a few things you can expect to hear this Sunday night at 7:30.
Good to hear Ripley Cain again after a couple year layoff. Ripley Cain and The Full Moon will release Scotch at the Red Line Tap on March 3. I look forward to playing a cut for you. Also, Tony Sackett and Warm Ones are back with Lena, a nice segue out of the brilliance that was their Anesthetic Best of 2010 release Sprezzatura. Check out the “making of” video below. I also plan to spin Elephant Gun’s Kid Scissors. They’re a nine-piece band that, surprisingly, don’t make as big a racket as you’d expect. Subtlety and strong songs=good combination. Dig their tunes on Local Anesthetic along with the best of what other new Chicago music I listened to as I properly observe the speed limit on I-57 between now and Sunday night at 7:30 on XRT.
