There’s so much good rockin’ stuff out there now…where to start???
I confess to being Gray & Proud, but wow do I have a jukebox full of soundtrack to this long life!! Here are some of my perennial faves. Yep, I hung up my Boogie Shoes ages ago (didn’t everybody?), but my comfy Blue Suede Shoes still have plenty of juice…even if they’re not schlepping though Lollapalooza! Us old folks always creak out of our seats, even punching our fists in the air on good nights, for “Mony Mony” (Tommy James/Billy Idol), “Love Shack” (B-52s), “Push It” (Salt’n’Pepa), “Twist & Shout” (Beatles), “Satisfaction” (Stones), “Good Lovin’”(Rascals),”Dance To The Music” (Sly & The Family Stone), James Brown, Stax/Motown hard R&B. If we’re dusting off the turntable here, “I Fought The Law” (Bobby Fuller Four et al) followed by “Jailouse Rock” (Elvis) usually gets even the most reluctant delinquents up. And…tho I can’t quite pull out the jams anymore, I recall hot dancing to the extended 12″ mix of Madonna’s “Burning Up,” LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade” (OK, stop laughing!) & a whole bunch more I don’t dare mention. There’s so much more. And yes, I also dig the great current stuff. If it grooves, it moves!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to the ever party-hardy XRT gang!! Seriously, I know that what we hear on-air is only a tiny tip of the iceberg of dedicated long hours & very hard work by DJs, support & clerical staff, interns, staff writers, web administrators, sales reps, concert/event planners, security, maintenance folks & yes, even corporate managers. If I forgot anyone, I apologize – please know that every one of you is deeply appreciated! The blog work alone is quite staggering. Even if few comments appear on the blogs, know that a bunch of us do follow them & gain much from the writing, videos & mp3s. ZACK – Special nod here. I’ve talked with you several times on blog issues & recognize considerable effort in holding the whole web presence together. You guys really do ROCK—THANK YOU!!!
