[photogallerylink id=92120 align=left]Paul McCartney announced via his website today that he will be releasing a new album in February of 2012.
The album, currently without a title, will only feature two new tracks but will highlight the songs that influenced both Macca and former Beatles songwriting partner, John Lennon.
The new album will be released on Hear Music/Concord Records on February 7, 2012 and will give fans a look into “the songs which inspired the songs.”
“When I kind of got into songwriting, I realized how well structured these songs were and I think I took a lot of my lessons from them,” Paul explains on his website. “I always thought artists like Fred Astaire were very cool. Writers like Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, all of those guys – I just thought the songs were magical. And then, as I got to be a songwriter I thought it’s beautiful, the way they made those songs.”
The album was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, New York and London throughout 2011 and features special guests Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder.
More details, including the full tracklist will be announced soon, but Macca has revealed the names of the two original songs that will be included. The track “Only Our Hearts” will feature Stevie Wonder and “My Valentine” includes Eric Clapton.
“My Valentine” is currently streaming on McCartney’s website for the next twenty-four hours but is only available to premium members.
