[photogallerylink id=91021 align=left]You’ve heard about the new Flaming Lips 24 hour long song. Now, today, you can stream it HERE, that is, if there’s room for you. The catch is that only 999 people can stream it at once and the few times I checked today the limit had been reached. You could check back to see if some room has become avaialble, but it will take longer than waiting for space to open up at the bar at Big Star Tacos. These people are, after all, streaming something that takes 24 hours to listen to.
[photogallerylink id=87583 align=left]In other Flaming Lips news today, Wayne Coyne says the Lips are working on new songs with former Bad Seed, Nick Cave and others and hope to have the results on a new album in April, and they have said that they plan to tour with Nick when his current tour is completed. Flaming Lips frontman, Wayne, is quoted in Pitchfork as saying, “We’ve done a couple of things with Nick. We already have one really good cut, so that seems like it’ll work out.”
The new 24 hour long song, “7 Skies H3,” is now available on a hard drive encased within a real human skull. It went on sale today with a list price of $5,000. Wayne says, “It’s a pretty exotic art object. Only 13 of them are being made.” Also today, to celebrate the release of the song the Lips will be performing at the home of one of their fans, a 17 year old girl in West Virginia. Coyne says, “All of her friends are going to come over. We’re going to play “Halloween” by the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Dream Syndicate[/lastfm] and then do one or two Flaming Lips songs before the police show up to shut the thing down.”
