Discover: Electronic Duo Data Romance Plays “Backwards”

Ajay Bhattacharyya (instruments/producer) and Amy Kirkpatrick (vocals/lyrics) have been friends since high school, but it wasn’t until two years ago that they teamed up together musically as the electronic duo [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Data Romance[/lastfm].

The two Canadian 25-year-olds first struck with a movie soundtrack in January of this year, followed by a four-song EP in June. In the new year look for a new EP called Ashes. The plan for an album is, according to Ajay, to “do it when it feels right.” That full-length should also appear in 2012.

Check out four songs performed live in the Discover studio, including three which have yet to be released anywhere!

Before watching our chat with Ajay & Amy, you must check out the video for “The Deep.” It’s perfect for this cinematic type of a song. Director Alistair Legrand came up with the simple but beautiful idea of dancers “during the apocalypse.” He found Lil Buck the choreographer and along with 2 other dancers, took the song and took the meaning and made all the beautiful movements in a style called Jukin.
