Audio: Dave Navarro Announces Jane’s Addiction’s 2011 Show At Metro, Talks Smashing Pumpkins

The year was 1988 and their major label release, Nothing’s Shocking, had just been released in August. Picture it. The night before Thanksgiving and their opening act is a fledgling local group called Smashing Pumpkins. Dave Navarro recalls his first encounter with a young Billy Corgan that night. This morning JA lead guitarist Dave Navarro joined me on the air to announce the return of Jane’s Addiction to Metro for two XRT shows the nights of September 24th and 25th. We also spoke about Edmonton, working out at 5:30am and a very special Thanksgiving at Metro those many years ago. And if you feel a little wistful today about the fading summer, dig out “Summertime Rolls” from Jane Addiction’s 1988 release.

Just last week Jane’s Addiction released the music video for their latest single “Irresistible Force” off their upcoming album The Great Escape Artist. The album, due out October 4th on Capitol Records, is produced by Rich Costey, who is known for working with Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, and Muse. The album also features writing and bass from TV on the Radio ‘s Dave Sitek, although Chris Chaney will be touring with the band this upcoming year.
