Thanks to his dad’s record collection, John O’Regan, aka [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Diamond Rings[/lastfm], gravitated to music at an early age. As he recalled, at the age of 5 or 6, it was [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm]‘s Born To Run that initially sparked him.
Years later he rediscovered his dad’s collection and got turned on to a whole new group of artists, including [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Smiths[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Echo & The Bunnymen [/lastfm]and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Joy Division[/lastfm]. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Devo[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kraftwerk[/lastfm] also became favorites.
Check out how O’Regan’s own music took shape based on what inspired him, and watch him perform four songs from his debut album Special Affections.
