We have a writer on the ground of music’s most epic summer concert: Lollapalooza!

One of the most awesome thing for DJ lovers is the fact that Perry’s Tent at the 20th Anniversary of Lollapalooza was expanded, making more room for the excellent dance party that the music guru & DJ Greg Gillis behind the wildly popular [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Girl Talk[/lastfm] was going to throw as a headliner.

When I arrived, the sun had set, the sky was still had an electric orange glow and everyone was ready to dance for the next couple of hours.

Girl Talk fans showed up ready to party, faces painted and glitter raining down on all parts of their body, Girl Talk fans turned Perry’s Tent into a magical dancing delight and it’s exactly where I wanted to be.

Gillis uses an eclectic mix of pop, rock, indie-rock, classic rock and even oldies to make up his unique dance sound that amps up a crowd as though they were under a magical dance spell.

Clearly, this wasn’t Gillis’ first rodeo, three years ago he performed at Lollapalooza, but without quite such a commanding crowd.  It’s clear that the past few years of touring has done a lot for his performance skills, but for the amount of fans that he’s acquired.

Making Girl Talk a headliner at Perry’s Stage on Night One of Lollapalooza was clearly the right decision judging by the reaction of the crowd, as they joined him on stage in what turned into the most electric dance party lead by a musical madman.

It was sort of like pulling back the curtain and watching the Wizard of Oz do his thing with his legion of followers in the Emerald City.

You want to see Girl Talk the next time Gillis and his music loving posse stroll through your city, even if it’s just for the bragging rights of being apart of the show!
