The Complete Concertgoers Guide To The Pitchfork Music Festival
In a summer full of amazing festivals, Pitchfork Music Festival, held in Chicago’s Union Park is a highlight. In 2005 Pitchfork Media launched its own festival that has become one of music’s most unique and eclectic festivals showcasing a number of indie artists you may have heard on New Music Thursday or Monday nights on XRT’s The Big Beat.
This weekend we’ll have full backstage coverage and LIVE video with some of the festival’s top artists!
This three-day festival in Chicago’s Union Park allows independent music artists and major label bands and artists to perform on the same three stages together. The music artists will range from intellectual rap artists, such as Das Racist to experimental rockers, Animal Collective. The festival is unique in a way that it does not just provide its listeners “one sound.”
The festival will take place from Friday, July 15th to Sunday, July 17th and each day is stacked with an impressive lineup. Friday features new artists to the music scene as well as acclaimed groups that have been big names in indie music for years. Guided By Voices will reunite with their mid-90′s lineup to play songs from their albums of that era including critical favorite Bee Thousand. Younger artist 22 year old James Blake will also perform his new style of music that has incorporated a number of different genres and created a new sound all his own.
