This version of this song comes on a 1990 album recorded for Antone’s Records and features        Kim Wilson on harp and Pinetop Perkins on piano.

Yesterday evening at the Petrillo Stage at the 28 Annual Chicago Blues Festival Cookie Taylor, daughter of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Koko Taylor[/lastfm], with assistance from Marie Dixon, widow of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Willie Dixon[/lastfm], crowned Shemekia Copeland “Queen of the Blues”. This is one of the songs Shemekia performed last night. It comes from her 1998 debut album, Turn the Heat Up, on Alligator Records.

This is the original recording of this song from Chess Records in 1954. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]LONNIE BROOKS[/lastfm] AND [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]KOKO TAYLOR[/lastfm] – IT’S A DIRTY JOB

It was Lonnie Brooks Day in Chicago yesterday as proclaimed at the Chicago Blues Festival in a letter from Mayor Rahm Emanuel during a tribute to Alligator Records on their 40^th Anniversary.  This song is from a live recording made during Alligator’s 20^th Anniversary tour.

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]BILLY BRANCH[/lastfm] – MELLOW DOWN EASY/BO DIDDLEY

A new recording for Billy of a song he performed Saturday night at the Chicago Blues Festival. This comes from a double CD called, Chicago Blues: A Living History, The (R)evolution Continues. Look for a CD release party soon at Buddy Guy’s Legends. Two of the stars of this album, Lurrie Bell and Matthew Skoller, will appear live on Blues Breakers in two weeks on Monday, June 27.

This version of this song was released in the fall of 1998, just about a year after Jimmy passed. This album, Blues, Blues, Blues, was supposed to help revitalize his career but it ended up being more of a tribute to Jimmy.  An amazing list of special guests show up for this recording including [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Keith Richards[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mick Jagger[/lastfm] who appear on this song.

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]ROBERT CRAY[/lastfm] – CHICKEN IN THE KITCHEN

Mr. Cray will be the headliner this Friday at the Blues on the Fox festival in Aurora.
