For a band who pushed themselves to the limit on their last album, 2008′s watershed Evil Urges, it is no wonder that three years passed in between releases. In the time since they hit the road promoting Urges, MMJ have circled the globe, played every festival known to man and performed gigantic, unforgettable shows like the epic Bonnaroo late-nite gig in 2008 and their performance at Radio City Music Hall later that same year.

Given this activity and their standing with fans, one could easily interpret a song like “Victory Dance” to be just that: a victory lap celebrating how far they’ve come. But upon closer inspection it’s clear that this is no victory lap. As introspective as it is bombastic, Circuital is a new masterwork of songwriting and reveals a group of artists able to reflect honestly on their success and recent experiences.
