Audio: Frank E. Lee Talks With The Cars' Rick Ocasek

cars 3851 Cars Return To ChicagoLast week [lastfm] The Cars[/lastfm] were in town for a sold-out XRT show at the Riviera. It was one of the few things he said during the course of about ninety minutes of cool Cars classics and a healthy dose of tracks from the new album “Move Like This.” Despite an absence from the concert stage of over twenty years (except for the New Cars album and tour WHICH MUST NOT BE SPOKEN OF) the partisan crowd sang along with the old tunes and most of the new ones, especially the ones we play on XRT like “Blue Tip” and “Sad Song.”

Frank had a chance to talk with Mr. Ocasek after the show:

This interview was great! Ric and the band did an awesome show. I was right in front of Ocasek and Hawkes at the Riv. They were into the crowd and the new songs were well received.God Bless Ben Orr as his presence was missed and always will be.

I was there and loved the show. My only disappointment (if you can call it that) was that the new album was “pushed” a little more that I had expected. I thought 5 songs from the new album was a bit much. There were some glaring omissions (IMO) from the set like “Candy-O”, “Dangerous Type”, “Shake It Up” and “Panorama”. I just thought after nearly 25 years away they might throw a bone to us die hards. That said, I hope they don’t make us wait another 25 years… we’ll all be worm food.
