Once again it’s Thursday, or New Music Thursday as we like to call it around here, and, therefore, tonight is the night for New Noise at Nine. Along with Blues Breakers on Monday nights, NN@9 is one of my two favorite hours on the radio.
Elsewhere on this web site (HERE) you can read more about [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Cars[/lastfm] and their new album and even stream the whole album, but if you’d like to hear a new song from their latest record in stereo hi-fi, we’ll have it for you to lead off New Noise tonight.
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Steve Earle[/lastfm]’s new record is out now. I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive is named after an old song by country music legend [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Hank Williams[/lastfm] and is a bit more country than some of Steve’s other recent albums. It was produced by another contemporary legend, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]T-Bone Burnett[/lastfm] and has been release simultaneously with a new book of the same name, Steve’s first novel. Hear a song from this, the album not the book, tonight.
We’ll also be playing the new song that is a collaboration between [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jack White[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Danger Mouse [/lastfm] and Italian composer Daniele Luppi. An album inspired by Italian film soundtracks.
We’ll hear something that will be on a forthcoming new disc by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Arctic Monkeys[/lastfm], Suck It And See, due on June 7.
The new album by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]My Morning Jacket[/lastfm] is not set to drop until May 31, but we’ll have a song from that, too. (MMJ will be playing a XRT show at the Auditorium Theater on June 17th.)
I could tell you more but I want to save a few surprises for tonight’s show. New Noise at Nine, tonight at nine.
