After releasing new record Angles in the middle of March, New York punk-rock band [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Strokes[/lastfm] has stormed Last.fm’s charts. Songs from Angles have taken eight of the top ten spots among this week’s list of Last.fm’s Top Tracks.

Angles is the fourth album so far from The Strokes, and it has reigned over the charts since its release earlier this month.

Single “Under Cover of Darkness” was the first song to be debuted, back in February, and proudly takes the top spot with 130,586 plays, with album opener “Machu Picchu” claiming third place in the Top Tracks chart for the second week running with 111,382 plays.

But although on first glance The Strokes appear to have dominated your listens, Adele and Lady Gaga have managed to hang in there for yet another week with Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” sticking at #2, and Gaga’s “Born This Way” falling two posts down to #6.

Despite being pushed around by new releases, both tracks have been in the top ten for the past seven weeks, only slipping once when new Radiohead album The King Of Limbs first dropped.

Last.fm Trends will be reporting back on next week’s Top Tracks chart to see if they’ve dug their heels for another week, and whether The Strokes will continue receiving listeners’ love.
