[pullquote quote=”We think they sound like a well-rounded Nineties indie rock mixed tape.” credit=”Rolling Stone Magazine”]British alt-rockers Yuck are riding high off the release of their debut self-titled LP and the widespread critical acclaim for the record and their live shows have garnered. The praise is well-warranted. In the midst of a 90-s grunge revival that finds more bands copying rather than advancing the sound pioneered by Pavement, and popularized by Smashing Pumpkins, Yuck accomplish plenty by doing neither.
Doctors In My Bed
Influences aren’t worn on sleeves; they’re sewn right into the hem. Yuck produce visceral, quality rock that is as much a product of the past as it is a peer. Their sound never becomes derivative, nor evolutionary, but that’s not the point. They drive the grunge and alt-rock they grew up with through their own emotions and instruments, producing a solid sound that is very much grunge, yet very much Yuck. Throughout the debut LP and new single, ‘Doctors In My Bed,’ they never abandon the honesty behind their sound. For all fans of good loud rock, don’t skip out on Yuck.
