[photogallerylink id=54408 align=left]The French quartet [lastfm]Phoenix[/lastfm] who won the “Best Alternative Music Album” Grammy in 2009 for their album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix have begun work on their follow up album. The band is working on their new album in New South Wales, Australia and revealed that they are going to be recording a number of percussionists and an orchestra in order to test out the new material.
Lead singer Thomas Mars said that “If it works, we’ll probably come back and record something that’s going to be on the album.” Mars then went on to say that the new album will be inspired by both the “nostalgic” and “futuristic” sound of a French high-speed train called the TGV. The band said that they want to escape their past work with drum machines and create a new sound for themselves. The new sound will definitely be a departure from their previous material, being that it is inspired by a train.
