[pullquote quote="We think they sound like a well-rounded Nineties indie rock mixed tape." credit="Rolling Stone"]One of the bands you’ll be hearing a lot about in 2011 is a young group of Londoners called [lastfm]Yuck[/lastfm]. Sometimes a quartet, other times there’s five of them, Yuck plays a pretty crunchy brand of late 80’s early 90’s melodic noise pop that brings you back to the days of Sonic Youth’s “Goo”, which was probably the total of the band’s vocabulary when that record was released. Yuck is led by 20 year old Daniel Blumberg, already a grizzled indie rock veteran who’s first band, Cajun Dance Party was signed to XL Records when he was a mere lad of 15.
Yuck – “Howling Out”
Last night on the Big Beat I played the first single, “Holing Out” from their forthcoming self titled debut album due out 2/15. Expect to hear many songs from the disc on The Big Beat, but for the time being, enjoy this non album track, the B-Side off the single, a song called “Coconut Bible”. Listen & download for Free below
