[photogallerylink id=23965 align=left]I know, there seems to be a pretty high number of my posts that are about [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Buddy Guy[/lastfm], but he took last night’s announcement of the 2010 XRT Listener Poll as pretty good news.
Last night we revealed the results of the 2010 XRT Listener Poll. Of the six categories Buddy Guy placed top ten in four!
Top ten best venue went to Buddy Guy’s Legends. While it’s hard to say if people were voting for the old location that closed in June or the new location that was open up the block for half the year, I have to say that except for nostalgia, the new place can make you forget about the old spot.
Buddy’s new, Grammy nominated album, Living Proof, made top ten on the album list, and his song, “74 Years Young,” is in the top ten on the song list.
Most remarkable is his placing in the best concerts category. The top concert was Lollapalooza. That’s also the concert with the largest pool of potential listener respondents as there were tens of thousands of concert goers there each day of the three day festival with many of the biggest names among touring rock bands. Number two on the concert list was another enormous event loaded with star power, Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival at Toyota Park. The number three concert going experience, Buddy Guy at Buddy Guy’s Legends in January of 2010.
Last night at Legends I met with Buddy pre-show but didn’t mention the poll results until I included it in my stage introduction to Buddy. The crowd and Mr. Guy were clearly very happy about the news with Buddy thanking XRT listeners and Chicago Blues fans later in the show.
Tonight Buddy plays show number 6 of this January’s 16 shows at the new Buddy Guy’s Legends. Many of the remaining shows are now sold out but a few tickets remain for some dates.
