Sir Keith Richards?
Johnson wrote in the UK’s Daily Telegraph, “It is a continuing scandal that Keef Richards has not been made, at the very least, a knight bachelor, and the outrage became clear to me this Christmas when — like so many other men of my generation — I was sentenced to ‘Life.’ That is, I was given a copy of Keef’s super-selling autobiography of that name; and by the end of my researches I felt the full weight of the injustice.”
If Johnson’s support of Keith Richards seems a little out of place to you, it may make more sense when you’re told that Johnson was formerly a member of the Bullingdon Club. The Oxford University social society is notorious in Great Britain for its alcohol-fueled rampages of destruction that take place during its meetings. Though Johnson thinks that no one else in the UK is more deserving of the knighthood, Richard’s doesn’t seem to mind that he hasn’t yet obtained the honor, which he called a “f–king paltry honour.”
