Lou Reed
That’s the way [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Peter Gabriel[/lastfm] introduced the black leather clad rocker at a recent concert in Gotham, setting the stage for one of the city’s iconic musical residents and someone who is very much a reflection of its spirit. He is brilliant, controversial, contrarian, difficult (he pretended, I think, not to know what a denouement was when I interviewed him some years back, forever invalidating my years in English class) and a rock and roll hall of famer.
Now, one of the elder statesman of rock (don’t say that to his face), he continues to work on numerous projects, including a somewhat tardy but mesmerizing appearance last year at Lolla and , according to my sources, enjoys a daily breakfast of oatmeal and soft-boiled eggs at a popular Manhattan bistro with his recent bride [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Laurie Anderson[/lastfm] (the pride of Glen Ellyn.) Check out Lou’s classic performance at Park West in 1978 on this week’s XRT Sunday Night Concert at 8.
