Kings of Leon

[pullquote quote="I went in and ad-libbed, I free-floated everything." credit="Caleb Followill -- Kings Of Leon"]What do you make of this?  There’s an interview with Caleb Followill of [lastfm]Kings of Leon[/lastfm] in the latest issue of Uncut where he says something about “ad-libbing” the lyrics on the new album in the studio.  This is NME reporting on Uncut’s story.  If this is accurate, could that be seen a lazy, cynical move?  If someone was looking for reasons to not like this band, then yeah, I think so.  Is it a cool, punk-inspired thing to do?  Or, does it produce filler crap that any talented producer could work into stuff that people will eat up no matter what?

[photogallerylink id=24071 align=left]I know that with success sometimes comes criticism, there are always people looking to tear you down, and I hope that’s not what this looks like.  It’s just something that you don’t read about every day and I wanted to link to it, that’s all.  I interviewed Nathan and Jared Followill back in 2005, and they were a blast to talk to, so I root for them a little bit, but at the same time, if stories like this are true, how are you supposed to feel about multi-platinum albums that you’re gonna hear a thousand times that may have been half-assed?  Half-excited?  Half-enthused?
