Now that the Sox and the Cubs are playing for “pride,” Chicago baseball fans are settling in for an unsettling post-season of what might have been. Meanwhile, documentarian Ken Burns is returning to his encyclopedic baseball reverie with a postscript to his original 9 innings. Tonight and tomorrow “The Tenth Inning” airs on PBS and attempts to bring the story of baseball to the present time. Chicago fans may have rightfully criticized the original series for its Bi-Coastal bias, but they’ll have a hard time ignoring the White Sox storybook year of 2005. Or for that matter, The Cubs science fiction year of 2003.
The 4 hour documentary will also explain why baseball players had such fat heads in the ’90′s.
