According to the American Cancer Association, cancer “kills more than 560,000 Americans and almost eight million people worldwide” a year. While a true cure for cancer has yet to be found, fundraisers like Friday’s Stand Up 2 Cancer (SU2C), aim to raise money for innovative cancer research. The event has enlisted help from Hollywood’s biggest stars (George Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, [lastfm]Lady Antebellum[/lastfm], [lastfm]Stevie Wonder[/lastfm], The Edge from U2) including those who duked it out with the often deadly disease.
In preparation for Friday’s epic fundraiser, here are ten celebrity cancer survivors who are showing us that it’s possible to kick cancer’s butt.
