Greetings, new music lovers, it’s me, Tom Marker, host of New Noise at Nine. Every Thursday it’s New Music Thursday at XRT and every Thursday evening at nine we play the best of the new music.  Tonight we’ll include a song from the new record by [lastfm]Arcade Fire[/lastfm], of Montreal.  We’ll also play a new song by [lastfm]Of Montreal[/lastfm], of Athens, GA.  Huh?

Arcade Fire, of Montreal, put out their new record just before their Lollapalooza appearance this month.  It debuted at #1 on the Irish albums chart on August 6, the U.K chart on August 8, and the U.S. and Canadian charts on August 11.  Wow!   Of Montreal, is an entirely different band, of course, based in Athens, GA.    Their new record isn’t due until September 14th, but we’ll have a song from it to play tonight on New Noise at Nine.  They’ll be in Chicago for a show at The Riv on September 25th.  Also, be listening for music from [lastfm]Pretenders[/lastfm]‘ [lastfm]Chrissie Hynde[/lastfm]‘s new project, [lastfm]JP, Chrissie and the Fairground Boys[/lastfm], [lastfm]Ryan Bingham[/lastfm], [lastfm]Cathy Richadson[/lastfm]‘s new band The Macrodots, [lastfm]Shawn Mullins[/lastfm], [lastfm]Richard Thompson[/lastfm], [lastfm]Los Lobos[/lastfm], [lastfm]Ray LaMontagne[/lastfm] and more.
