Some of us love New Orleans and it’s amazing culture and people, and watched in shock at the events following the floods after Katrina. Now those of us who love the music that has come out of Nashville feel the same concern and frustration. Some lost everything they spent a life time collecting. Some lost their lives. The Grand Ole Opry flooded, lots of country musicians have lost their storage and rehearsal space, and the Gibson Guitar factory was affected. Musical instruments and historical documents are ruined. It’s a big, soggy heap of pain. There are ways to help.
There will be a telethon May 16th. The Red Cross is there to help with shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance. If you want to help, call 1-800-RED CROSS, or visit nashvilleredcross.org.
